Adult Exercise and Wellness Program 24/25
Adult Exercise and Wellness classes start Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the library. There will be stretching exercises to music and nutritional information. The classes will be every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 10:30 a.m.
Sept 17 – First class of the season Denise was the instructor and started them out with just the basic stretching exercises.
Sept 29 – Tuesday the 24th started the second week of Adult Exercise Classes. There was a great group of ladies working on stretching exercises. Hope to see you Thursday. Just a reminder everyone is welcome to join us. Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Oct 1 – Miss Denise had the ladies exercising their legs, arms and necks to stretch and strengthen their muscles. After exercising they had “Oatmeal Peanut Butter Protein Balls” and fresh lemon water.
October 22 – Tuesday exercise class worked on stretching exercises and finished the hour with cucumber water and oatmeal protein balls. Just a reminder anyone is welcome to participate every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 till 11:30.
Tuesday, Oct 29th the Adult Exercise class worked on balance, strength and stretching exercises to help with arthritis. After exercising they enjoyed water and protein bites. Next class will be Thursday at 10:30.
Storytime 2024-2025
Storytime begins Wednesday, September 18th at 10:30 p.m. Why: School Readiness, Social Skills, Fine and Gross motor skills. What: Early Childhood Education, Reading, Nursery Rhymes, Songs, Colors, Shapes, Numbers, Crafts, Opposites and much more.
Sept 18 – The first Story Time was with the nursing home residents, there were 26 children and 25 residents present. Miss Denise read the book “I went Walking”, everyone sang along to “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and “Your Grand Ole Flag”. The craft was creating a page with their name and favorite thing for our cloth book.
Oct 2 – Story Time group was enjoying the morning with the residents at the Beaver County Nursing Home, listening to “Baa, Baa Black Sheep”, “Little Miss Muffet” and “The Napping House” books read by Miss Denise. They sang “Go Fly a Kite” and “God Bless America”, then they made a place mat showing what they are thankful for. Story Time will be at the Beaver County Nursing Home on the first Wednesday of the month.
October 9 -Another great day in the park for Story Time. We had fourteen children and several adults enjoying “Little Miss Muffet”, “Hey Diddle, Diddle” and the book “Baby Owl”. They sang along to the Peanut Butter Song, the Fishing Song, I’m a Nut Song, Opposites Song, and Wallie Ocha Song. The craft was making a foam Owl decoration.
October 23 – Story Time today started with Miss Sherry introducing herself and then giving each child the chance to tell their names. They talked about the color of their mats. The nursery rhymes were “Little Miss Muffett”, “Hey Diddle Diddle”, and “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. The books read were “Goodnight Owl”, “Animals in Fall” and “Little Owls Night”. The craft was an owl made with rice cakes, fruit and cereal.
October 30 – Story Time today had lots of children dressed in costumes. Miss Sherry talked to them about colors and learning their full names. The nursery rhymes they sang along with were “Little Miss Muffet”, “Hey Diddle Diddle” and “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. The Books read were “Pumpkins”, “a Day in the Life of a Police Officer” and “Pete the Cat, 5 Little Pumpkins”. Their craft was painting pumpkins.
November 6 – Story Time at the Beaver County Nursing Home was all about fall. Miss Denise read “Little Red Hen” and talked about different colors and shapes. They sang “Fly a Kite” and participated with flying scarfs. The crafts for the day were painting Thankful pumpkins and making a fall wreath.
November 13 – At Story Time today Miss Denise talked to them about learning their names and where they lived. They also talked about colors and shapes. They sang “Willie Ocha”, “Opposites” and “The Days of the Week”. Miss Sherry read the following books, “Duke & Goose”, “Books of Color”, “Tukey goes to Grandmas”. The craft for the day was making a scarecrow’s face.
November 20 – There was a good crowd at Story Time today. They sang along with several nursery rhymes. Miss Denise read “The Turkey Ball”, “Thanksgiving” and “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. They sang and danced to “Wallie Ocha” and “Opposites”. The craft was to make a Happy Thanksgiving Turkey.
Summer Reading Program 2024
We are excited to announce that we are preparing for our 2024 Summer Reading Program, “Adventure Begins at the Library”. This program will run from June 6, 2024 to June 27, 2024 on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Library Park. Programs are as follows:

June 6: First day of the Summer Reading Program was presented by the OSU Extension Office. There was a really good turnout, hopefully we see everyone back again.
June 13: Second week of the Summer Reading Program the presenter was Dana Helms, the Upside-Down Artist. She created a picture drawing all upside down with chalk in a little over 6 minutes. The crowd was handed out paper and pencils or crayons and was given step by step instructions (with illustrations) by Dana to create their own drawings upside down.
June 20 – Third week of the Summer Reading Program the presenter was Kelsey with Inspyral Circus. There was juggling, exercising, learning the trick of balancing items and yodeling.
June 27th was the final day of the Summer Reading Program. Everyone was served hot dogs, chips and a drink. The program was Adventures with Dinosaurs presented by Derick of Mad Science. Hope everyone enjoyed all the programs this year and hope to see everyone back next June.
There was a drawing on the last day of the Summer Reading Program for a bicycle and tablet. Donovan won the tablet and Elaina won the bicycle.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a great opportunity to bring reading and books into the lives of children. The program has successfully provided the resources for children to become more familiar with stories, characters, and language. Plus, it allows them to explore their imaginations and discover new interests!

We are fortunate to have one of the children, Austyn Ordonez, daughter of Miguel and Ashley Ordonez chosen as one of seven children worldwide who received an invitation to join Dolly in celebrating her 200 million books gifted milestone. She will receive the following and $2,000 will be given to the library.
Story Time 2023-2024
STORYTIME at the LIBRARY
Storytime at the Beaver County Library will begin Wednesday September 27,2023 at 10:30 a.m. Come join us each Wednesday as we are learning about structure for school preparation in a safe fun environment.
The focus will be on learning our name, address, where we live counting, ABC’s, the seasons, safety, manners, and healthy foods.
Colors, shapes and opposites review, using fine motor skills with crafts, puzzles, etc.
Nursery Rhymes repetition for language enhancement.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
September 27 – We had our first Story Time for the season out in our park area next to the library. We will be outside while the weather is good. Denise discussed colors, names, shapes and seasons. The books read were “Leaves” and “Duck and Goose-Find a Pumpkin”. The Nursery Rhymes were “Little Miss Muffet”, “Hey Diddle, Diddle” and “Baa, Baa Black Sheep”. Hope to see more new faces next Wednesday in the park at 10:30 a.m.
October 4 – Story Time was in the park this morning and we had a great time. The topics were colors, shapes, matching colors, and small, medium and large sizes. Leaves and apples were used as examples of all the different colors. “Apple Harvest” and “Harvest Time” were the books read. The nursery rhymes were “Little Miss Muffet”, “Hey Diddle, Diddle”, “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” and “One, Two, Buckle my shoe”. The craft was the “Harvest Truck”.
October 18 – Story Time today covered matching colors with color squares to colors on the mural in the park. “Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch” and “Pete the Cat, Five Little Pumpkins” were read. “Little Miss Muffet”, “Hey Diddle, Diddle”, “Baa, Baa Black Sheep”, “Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater” were the nursery rhymes.
October 25 – Story Time was all about pumpkins and halloween. There was a story walk out to the park and each child had to match the color of the scarf they had to a color in the painting on the wall. The books read were “Mouse’s First Halloween” and “Plumply, Dumply Pumpkin”. Denise carved a jack-o-lantern, and everyone got to decorate their own pumpkin.
November 1 – We had a small class today for Story Time but they went over matching colors, farm and domestic animals, opposites, i.e. top and bottom, etc. The Nursery Rhimes were “Little Miss Muffet” and “Hey Diddle, Diddle”.
November 8 – Story Time today was about colors, animals and what we are thankful for. The books were “Brown Bear” and “Giving Thanks”.
At Story Time today opposites were talked about, the story was about the Gingerbread Man and the craft today was decorating a gingerbread house and gingerbread man cookie. The houses will be on display along with the large house until after “Christmas on Douglas”.
December 6 – Story Time today was about opposites, Christmas activities, colors, names and books on bears. We sang several nursery rhyme songs. The craft was making a Santa ornament.
January 3, 2024 – We are back after the holidays and Story Time is still missing a few but we still had a great time. They started out with working with puzzles to learn reading left to right, colors and shapes. The book was “Winter”. They worked with learning their body parts, i.e. head, shoulders, knees and toes. Their homework for next week is to be able to tell Miss Denise their full name, where they live and how old they are.
January 10, 2024- This week due to the weather we had only one family show up for story time. Betty and Foster had a little one-on-one with Betty reading “Brown Bear”, “Polar Bear, Polar Bear – What Do You See”, “Peanut Butter & Jelly”. The craft was making a snowflake.
Story Time today Miss Betty read “People in Winter” and “Snow Day”. The craft was a gingerbread man dressed for winter.
January 24 – Story Time today had lots of activities. Miss Denise read “Snowy’s Special Secret”, “Colors” and then went over the days of the week in sign language. To review colors they played the “Go Fishing” game and matched fish blocks by color and joined together to make a chain. The craft was making a “Cup of Hot Chocolate”.
January 31 – Today in story time the nursery rhymes were “Little Miss Muffet”, “Baa Baa Black Sheep”, “Jack and Jill”, “Little Boy Blue” and “One, Two Buckle My Shoe”. After Denise read “Peanut Butter and Jelly” book their regular mats went back into the drawer and the yoga mats came out. They exercised to the book “From Head to Toe” and several other stretching exercises. Their craft today was making their own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
February 14 -Today at Story Time Denise read the following books – “Max’s Valentine”, “Be My Valentine, Peter Rabbit” and “Spot’s Valentine”. They sang “Days of the Week”, “Months of the Year” and “Alligator Counting Song”. The Craft was decorating valentine cookies.
March 6 – Our Story Time theme today was Dr. Seuss, everyone received the famous hat. Miss Betty read “King Loonie Katz” and “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”. The children had fun playing along with the music and forming a marching band. The craft was matching and glueing the colored fish to the tail on the “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” picture.
March 13 – Story time today is Dr. Seuss one more time. The weather was so nice we went outside to the Library Park. Miss Denise read “Honey Bunny” and “Green Eggs and Ham”, then everyone was served some green eggs and ham. There were several colored bean bags hidden around the park for the children to find and then match the colored bags to colors on the mural.
March 20 – A great day for Story Time in the park. Denise read ‘Happy Easter Mouse”. They learned about what happens when you mix colors while listening to the book “Mouse Paint”. They got to watch as Denise explained how mixing two colors will create a new color. The craft was decorating a foam egg for Easter.
March 27 – Story time today was all about Easter. Denise read “The Story of Easter” and “Bunny Day”. The music was “Let’s Go Fly a Kite”, “The Hokie Pokie” and “Bunny Hop”. Since the weather was a little chilly the Easter Egg Hunt was done inside the library. Each child got to pick their basket based on the color. They then had to follow the bunny tracks and find only the eggs that matched the basket color.
April 4 – Beautiful morning for Story Time in the park. Miss Denise read “Peter Rabbit” and “If You Plant a Seed” to jump into planting season. They discussed the different type of vegetables and how they grow. There was a veggie tray available for them to try different vegetables. They exercised using “Let’s get Moving with Activity Mats” and finished the day making a Bunny Magnet.
April 10 – Story Time today was all about birds. The types and colors. Miss Denise read “Birds” and “What is a Bird” and then they made bird feeds out of toilet paper rolls, peanut butter and bird seed. With the help of the adults the feeders were hung in the trees at our park.
April 17 – Beautiful morning for Story Time in the park. Today was all about vegetables. Miss Denise read “Up, Down and Around” which talks about the different vegetables and how they grow. Each child got to plant seeds in a pot to take home and then they were given different vegetable plants to plant in the pots on the patio. The vegetables on the patio will be taken care of by the library staff and hopefully the children. Next week will be our last Story Time for the season.
April 24 – Story Time today was a great play day. There were flowers planted, matching colors games and “Let’s get Moving Activity Squares”. Since this was the last story time until September, we had a picnic with hot dogs, chips and cupcakes.
