Children’s Holiday Story Time
The Beaver County Pioneer Library Story Time is in full swing! Come join us on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 to explore the beautiful season of Fall.
Story time began Tuesday, September 25th, learning about apples, the color red, circles and nursery rhymes. We sang songs along with music and movement for exercise. Every Tuesday is different, with creative crafts, seasonal books and learning activities. We are all about hands on activities and school preparation. Come join the fun!!!
Summer Reading Celebration!
Last Thursday was our Summer Reading celebration with the Monty Harper Music Show, hot dog cookout and grand prize give-away! Monty Harper entertained us with his funny tunes and sing-a-longs. We later made rain sticks and tambourines with the help of Liz McBee with OSU Extension. Kapp Taylor was our prize winner! Children of all ages were encouraged to read and keep reading logs in order to get in the grand prize drawing. Although our Summer Reading program has come to a close, we encourage kids to keep reading and keep a log as we will have another big prize at the end of the summer! So, KEEP ON READING!!!!

OHAI Meeting on Caregiving
We had a great turnout for the OHAI Class for Caregiving/Caregivers. Chris Anderson from Northwest Center of Healthy Aging gave a presentation on caregiving and provided an abundance of resources on where to go for information and help concerning the loved one in your care. He also discussed the importance of self care during this (sometimes) frustrating situation. OHAI (Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative) provides many resources and programs on many subjects concerning our elderly. If you would like more information on this program, contact the Northwest Center of Healthy Aging at 580-297-5137 and visit with an Education Specialist. This program was part of our Health Literacy grant made possible through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
May Day Gardening for Children’s Story Time
Our May Day Gardening for Children’s Story Time was a success! With the help of Mr. Loren Sizelove from the OSU Extension, we learned how to properly plant seeds and starter plants and how to care for them afterwards. We planted tomatoes, okra, cucumber, squash, beets, cantaloupe and watermelon. This project is a community effort for the children of the library and all children of the community is invited to help take care of our garden. This awesome program was a part of our Health Literacy grant which was made possible through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the Institute of Museum and Library Services!
