Storytime 2024-2025

Storytime begins Wednesday, September 18th at 10:30 p.m. Why: School Readiness, Social Skills, Fine and Gross motor skills. What: Early Childhood Education, Reading, Nursery Rhymes, Songs, Colors, Shapes, Numbers, Crafts, Opposites and much more.

Sept 18 – The first Story Time was with the nursing home residents, there were 26 children and 25 residents present. Miss Denise read the book “I went Walking”, everyone sang along to “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and “Your Grand Ole Flag”. The craft was creating a page with their name and favorite thing for our cloth book.

Oct 2 – Story Time group was enjoying the morning with the residents at the Beaver County Nursing Home, listening to “Baa, Baa Black Sheep”, “Little Miss Muffet” and “The Napping House” books read by Miss Denise. They sang “Go Fly a Kite” and “God Bless America”, then they made a place mat showing what they are thankful for. Story Time will be at the Beaver County Nursing Home on the first Wednesday of the month.

October 9 -Another great day in the park for Story Time. We had fourteen children and several adults enjoying “Little Miss Muffet”, “Hey Diddle, Diddle” and the book “Baby Owl”. They sang along to the Peanut Butter Song, the Fishing Song, I’m a Nut Song, Opposites Song, and Wallie Ocha Song. The craft was making a foam Owl decoration.

October 23 – Story Time today started with Miss Sherry introducing herself and then giving each child the chance to tell their names. They talked about the color of their mats. The nursery rhymes were “Little Miss Muffett”, “Hey Diddle Diddle”, and “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. The books read were “Goodnight Owl”, “Animals in Fall” and “Little Owls Night”. The craft was an owl made with rice cakes, fruit and cereal.

October 30 – Story Time today had lots of children dressed in costumes. Miss Sherry talked to them about colors and learning their full names. The nursery rhymes they sang along with were “Little Miss Muffet”, “Hey Diddle Diddle” and “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. The Books read were “Pumpkins”, “a Day in the Life of a Police Officer” and “Pete the Cat, 5 Little Pumpkins”. Their craft was painting pumpkins.

November 6 – Story Time at the Beaver County Nursing Home was all about fall. Miss Denise read “Little Red Hen” and talked about different colors and shapes. They sang “Fly a Kite” and participated with flying scarfs. The crafts for the day were painting Thankful pumpkins and making a fall wreath.

November 13 – At Story Time today Miss Denise talked to them about learning their names and where they lived. They also talked about colors and shapes. They sang “Willie Ocha”, “Opposites” and “The Days of the Week”. Miss Sherry read the following books, “Duke & Goose”, “Books of Color”, “Tukey goes to Grandmas”. The craft for the day was making a scarecrow’s face.

November 20 – There was a good crowd at Story Time today. They sang along with several nursery rhymes. Miss Denise read “The Turkey Ball”, “Thanksgiving” and “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. They sang and danced to “Wallie Ocha” and “Opposites”. The craft was to make a Happy Thanksgiving Turkey.

December 4 – Story Time today instead of going to the Beaver County Nursing Home Miss Denise had the program in the Library. She read the “Gingerbread Story” and “I Love you a Ho Ho Lot”. Read and sang to several nursery rhymes. The craft of the day was decorating their own gingerbread house. All their houses will be on display at the library for “Christmas on Douglas” tomorrow.

December 11 – Today’s Story Time was with the residents at the Beaver County Nursing Home. The theme was “Christmas”, the books read were “Christmas Cookie” and “Where’s My Christmas Stocking”. While listening to Christmas music they decorated miniature Gingerbread Houses and sugar cookies.

Today was the last Story Time for 2024, everyone had a great time singing “Hello Neighbor”, “Peanut Butter”, “Tooty Ta” and nursery rhyme “Little Miss Muffet”. Miss Sherry “Peekaboo Christmas”, “Story of Christmas” and “Counting Ornaments”. The craft was creating a Candy Cane Reindeer in a Santa Clause Holder.
